Fire destroys local home, several vehicles

WEATHERSFIELD TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – A family of three lost everything, including several vehicles, in a fire late Wednesday night.

Crews from Weathersfield Township, McDonald and Austintown were called to the 1700 block of Rosalyn Drive around 10 p.m.

Weathersfield Fire Chief Tom Lambert said the fire started in an attached garage and quickly spread to the home and a neighbor’s house. No one was injured, but two cats died.

Lambert says there is nothing suspicious, but the State Fire Marshal’s Office is working to pinpoint how the fire started.

“I feel for the residents, you know, they can’t even go get money out of their banking account because they have no ID, they have no cell phones, so they’re starting life over fresh today, and they got a lot ahead of them,” Lambert said.

Lambert says those in the community have reached out, asking how they can help this family get back on their feet.
