WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — The closure of Trumbull Regional Medical Center and seven other facilities in the Valley will happen within a month, leaving many concerned about the gap in medical services provided in the area.

This is something we’re seeing happen right now.

At Trumbull Regional Medical Center, Dr. Mazen Mahjoub detailed a situation that happened Thursday morning and how he saved a woman’s life. He says she was suffering heart complications and couldn’t go to Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital.

There were talks about sending her to Cleveland Clinic, but Dr. Mahjoub made the call to bring her to Trumbull Regional Medical Center. He says if she didn’t receive care when she did, she would have died.

“This lady would have for sure died if we waited on this procedure for a long time. So this is life-saving. We need two hospitals in this area. we need to keep Trumbull going,” Dr. Mahjoub said.

Dr. Mahjoub says the hospital and its services are vital to save our community members lives.
Steward Health Care stated the closures were unavoidable because of financial constraints.
