WOLF CREEK TWP., Pa. (WKBN) – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has updated the proposed detour for a project to replace two bridges in Mercer County.

The bridges carry East Gilmore Road over Wolf Creek and an unnamed tributary to East Branch Wolf Creek in Wolf Creek Township. They are located on East Gilmore Road between the intersection with Route 173 and Centertown Road.

The bridges are owned by the county. The existing bridges were built in 1959 and are classified as poor condition. Approximately 500 vehicles per day use both bridges, on average, according to PennDOT.

The existing bridges will be replaced, and work is expected to begin during the 2025 construction season.

Due to other work planned in the area next year, the proposed detour route has been changed, however.

Through traffic on East Gilmore Road will be detoured using Route 173, Daugherty Road and Centertown Road (Route 2009), according to PennDOT.

Those living between the bridges can access their homes by using Montgomery Dam Road, Scrubgrass Road (Route 2014) and Route 173.

The public may give feedback on the project by contacting PennDOT Project Manager Greg Lindsay at grlindsay@pa.gov or 814-678-7365.
