BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — A man who stole a car from the Cleveland Hopkins Airport and led police on a chase that spanned two states and caused a cruiser-involved crash was been identified and charged, according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

According to OSHP, Makele Scruggs, 23, is the suspect who led authorities on a chase from Cleveland to Interstate 76 in Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he was apprehended.

The chase brought Scruggs and authorities through Boardman, causing a trooper-involved crash in a busy intersection. The trooper had been responding to the chase when the cruiser and another vehicle collided at the intersection.

Earlier the vehicle that the suspect had been driving hit another cruiser involved in the chase.

For the Ohio portion of the pursuit, Scruggs faces charges of failure to comply, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and felonious assault.

For the Pennsylvania portion, court records show Scruggs is charged with receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, fleeing or attempting to elude officers, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, careless driving, and minor traffic charges.

He is set for arraignment in the Common Pleas Court of Butler County on Sept. 24.
