The Mahoning County Engineer proposes to replace the Berlin Station Road Bridge over Turkey Broth Creek/Berlin Lake between Bedell Road and Pricetown Road. The existing bridge was constructed in 1943 and has never undergone a major rehabilitation.

The project proposes to replace the current two-lane bridge with a new two-lane bridge and 4-foot shoulders on each side. Additional work includes the replacement of approach pavement on each end of the bridge and guardrail replacement.

During construction, Berlin Station Road will be closed to traffic for approximately 180 days.

The $1,813,345 project is scheduled to begin construction in the fall of 2025 and will be completed in early 2026, according to the engineer’s office.

The official detour route will utilize Bedell Road, West Akron-Canfield Road (U.S. Route 224), and South Pricetown Road (state Route 534). A local traffic detour will also be established to maintain access for emergency/public services.

Access will be maintained to all adjacent properties, residences, the Berlin Lake Recreation Area and the Berlin Lake Wildlife Area/Public Hunting Land for the duration of the project.

While the proposed project will not result in any substantial impacts to environmental resources, Mahoning County Engineer’s Office is seeking any comments the public may have regarding the proposed project.

Contact Bob Durbin, P.E., P.S., Deputy Engineer, with any comments at 330-799-1581 or bdurbin@mahoningcountyoh.gov. Comments received by Sept. 27, 2024 will be considered during this phase of project development, but all comments will be addressed, the office states.
