Negley man accused of recording women in locker room

LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) — A Negley man was arrested and charged after police say he was recording women in a locker room at a local gym, including a minor.

Shane Wright, 24, was arraigned in Columbiana County Municipal Court Thursday on eight counts of voyeurism, all second-degree misdemeanors; voyeurism trespass to photograph in a state of nudity of minor, a fifth-degree felony; possessing criminal tools, a first-degree misdemeanor; and inducing panic, a first-degree misdemeanor. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and bond was set at $15,000.

According to an incident report from St. Clair Township Police, officers were called about 5:40 p.m. Friday to Planet Fitness on State Route 170 after a man was found in the rafters “secretly taking pictures and/or videos of women.”

That man was later identified as Wright. According to the incident report, Wright told police that he gained access to the rafters through the ceiling of the men’s locker room and maneuvered to different areas of the building to record the women with his cell phone for sexual gratification.

Wright was discovered by victims and witnesses, the report stated.

He is due back in court in September.
