WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Leading by eight points with less than two minutes to go, Akron Buchtel scored a touchdown to pull within two points of Warren Harding. But the Raiders defense held on a two-point conversion attempt and escaped with a 20-18 victory over the Griffins.

The Raiders jumped on the board first in the opening quarter when Mi’King Adair scored a short touchdown run.

Two Stevie Diamond touchdown passes to Karter Dawson put Buchtel ahead late in the first half.

The Raiders trailed 12-7 at the half.

B.J. Coleman’s touchdown run put Warren Harding back in front early in the second half.

Adair’s second touchdown run extended the Raider lead in the fourth quarter.

With under two minutes to go in the game, and trailing by eight points, Diamond’s third touchdown pass of the game closed the gap to two points but the Griffins could not convert for force a tie.

Buchtel (1-1) will visit Archbishop Hoban in Week 3. Warren Harding (1-1) will visit Perry.
