WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – All three defendants charged following a fatal fire in Warren are serving life sentences for 16-year-old Chassidy Broadstone’s death.

This particular case highlights how technology plays a crucial role in criminal investigations.

Detectives used a combination of cell phone data, plus surveillance video and Flock cameras to follow the defendant’s movements surrounding the January 19, 2023, fire on Nevada Avenue NW where Broadstone was killed.

That led to the arrests of Brendan Daviduk, Patricia Zarlingo and Zackary Gurd.

“This case is really the future of what you’re gonna start seeing and what we’re already starting to see. The phone records, the videos that are everywhere. This detective put it all together that basically we could show a timeline when they left, when they got to Warren, when they were in the house, when they went back in,” said Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Chris Becker.

Becker said technology is adding more tools to the investigative toolbox to catch criminals.

This poor family it would’ve made more sense if the writer explained the story.

Fantastic news I hope technology gets more helpful in solving crimes now we just need to teach the judges how to keep them in jail.
