According to a press release, the six-day attendance number for the 2024 Canfield Fair was 273,709 compared to 275,080 in 2023.

Tim Schreiber, the Canfield Fair Board director in charge of admissions, said the extreme heat earlier in the weekend could be the reason for the decrease in attendance.

“Considering the extreme temperatures we had at the start of the 178th Canfield Fair we had an incredibly strong finish which speaks to the commitment of the Mahoning Valley to the Fair and the traditions that go along with it,” Schreiber said.

Fair Board President Dave Mannion said if the weather had been better during the fair, he believed they would have had more than 300,000 attendees.

The Canfield Fair is the largest county fair in the state of Ohio and it celebrated its 178th year in 2024.

Tuesday, cleanup was underway at the fairgrounds.
