Woman returns home to find unknown man sleeping in her bed: Report

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Youngstown homeowner received quite the shock when she came home last Friday to find an unknown man sleeping in her bed.

The owner of a home on McGuffey Road first had an inkling something was amiss when she noticed her front gate wasn’t latched properly. She didn’t notice anything out of place on her front porch, but when she entered the home through a side door she noticed a stack of boxes had fallen over.

The homeowner told police she tried to listen to hear if anyone was in her house before she made her way upstairs. When she reached her upstairs bedroom, she found a man who she did not know snoring in her bed, police reports state.

The woman told police she gasped when she saw him and ran downstairs to call 911, but the noise didn’t disturb the intruder’s slumber.

Police arrived on scene and called out to the intruder, identified as John Turner, who told them he was sleeping in the bedroom. Reports state Turner told police he thought the home was abandoned and that he was going to cut the grass but decided to take a nap instead.

Police arrested Turner on a second-degree felony charge of burglary. He is set to be arraigned Tuesday in Youngstown Municipal Court.
