WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Members of the newly formed Lake to River Economic Development held a meeting Thursday with local industry leaders about manufacturing in the area.

The roundtable meeting included local congressmen and several area businesses. Most of the conversation centered around attracting a skilled workforce and how they can better address worker shortages.

Officials say the new Ohio’s new program can play a key role in connecting the two.

“We have these two waterways which hare such a wonderful asset that the western part of the county doesn’t have,” said Congressman Michael Rulli. “It’s going to bring jobs and when jobs come, taxes come. That’s going to fix a lot of things.”

Officials also say businesses could use help in the form of tax credits as they look to retool and compete in the global manufacturing community.
