YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A first of its kind event came to Youngstown State University Thursday evening.

The YSU Foundation hosted its first “Gratitude Day” at the Kilcawley Center.

The foundation helps support student initiatives and scholarships at the university.

Gratitude Day allowed those who donate to meet those they’re helping and celebrate the scholarship recipients’ accomplishments.

“We did have similar events last year but we stratified them by college. We thought it may be more successful to have one big event here in the Kilcawley Center so we’re hoping this is the first annual of a long-standing tradition,” said YSU Foundation president Paul McFadden.

Over 300 people were expected to attend the event.

Every year $11.5 million in scholarships goes to students from the YSU Foundation.
