HARRISBURG, Pa. (WKBN) — A new rule took effect in August for auto sales in Pennsylvania.

Attorney General Michelle Henry announced Friday that an amendment to the Pennsylvania Automotive Industry Trade Practices regulations went into effect on Aug. 19.

The new rule says that dealers will be required to inspect a vehicle for unsafe conditions within 30 days of when it enters their inventory. After that vehicle accumulates 500 or more miles on the dealer lot, it has to be inspected again before it’s sold.

If a dealer finds any of the unsafe conditions listed in the amendment, such as a flood-damaged vehicle or a vehicle with a bent frame, they will be required to disclose them in writing prior to sale. This written disclosure is required even if the motor vehicle is being sold “As Is.”

Dealers were sent a bulletin last month about the change.

That's funny because my husband bought a truck that the dealer put a new inspection sticker on and he needed something done to it so he took it to our mechanic and we came to find out that the frame was completely rotted and it should not have passed inspection, rust everywhere and we were told to report the dealer for putting a new inspection sticker on it!! Sadly it cost my husband close to $3500 to have the bed taken off and the whole underside redone plus other work on the body on top of paying $7500 for the truck 😡😡I'm so mad because my husband saved the money for this truck for a year

We bought our used car frim a dealer in fact my nephew in law sold it to us.. we lived it and still do… however the car on high beams will automatically shift to regular if a car is coming in the opposite direction.. he contacted service and brought it in… they said nothing was wrong with the car he must have been mistaken…. We took the car to our regular mechanic for an oil change and asked him … he looked at the car and fixed it.. so now we go to our regular auto mechanic… I trust him
