WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — Trumbull County commissioners are all-in with putting the newly-formed Lake To River Economic Development District to work for the county.

Commissioners unanimously approved a $40,000 contract with Lake to River to continue its development efforts for Trumbull County.

According to a news release from Lake to River, there is already more than $70 million of investment in Trumbull County that is expected to be announced within the next 12 to 24 months.

“We’re grateful for the support from our partners in Trumbull County and excited about the volume of prospective economic development activity that we’re managing here,” said Alexa Sweeney Blackann, Lake to River’s interim CEO.

Since it was formed, Lake to River leaders said they have received an “unprecedented number of inquiries” related to local expansions and businesses that are looking to invest in the region.

In April, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine was in town to launch the Lake to River Economic Development District in partnership with the JobsOhio program.

The district includes Ashtabula, Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties.
