WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — Every birthday is special, and you can help a Warren man celebrate his 100th birthday next week.

Tom Brogdon has lived in Warren for a century. He’s a Marine veteran and a retired electrical engineer. Brogdon was even part of the Apollo program that worked on the lunar module that landed astronauts on the moon and returned them to the orbiter, which brought them home.

He was also recognized in 1998 by the Trumbull County African American Achievers Association.

Brogdon lives at the Gillette Nursing Home, which wants to make his birthday special with the collection of cards.

“I think he’s going to be very surprised,” said Angie Stulgis, community liaison. “When we’ve asked him what he would like for his birthday, he tells us nothing. He just can’t believe that he’s made it to 100. So I think that he’s going to be very surprised.”

Tom Brogdon is also getting a special proclamation from the Warren mayor and Trumbull County Commissioners.

You can drop off or mail a card to make his 100th birthday special to Gillette Nursing Home at 3310 Elm Road, Northeast. Warren, OH 44483.
