LANDOVER, Maryland (WKBN) – The Washington Commanders have officially released former Cleveland Browns kicker Cade York.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Commanders plan to sign another former Browns kicker, Austin Seibert.

York connected on two extra points but missed both of his field goal attempts in Washington’s season-opening loss to Tampa Bay.

The Browns traded York to Washington prior to the regular season in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick.

The trade required York to be on the Washington roster for two games. Following his release, the trade is now off.

In two preseason games with Cleveland this summer, York was 2-2 on field goal attempts, including a 55-yarder against Green Bay. He was also 2-2 in extra points for the Browns.

annoying that the Browns don't get the pick out of it, but they were gonna cut him anyways after camp, so no real loss I suppose.
