PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially announced the signing of punter Corliss Waitman.

He replaces veteran Cameron Johnston, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in Sunday’s win over Atlanta.

Waitman originally signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent back in 2020 out of South Alabama.

He was released by the Steelers after the 2021 NFL Draft, but returned later that year. He was signed to Pittsburgh’s active roster on Dec. 24, and handled the punting duties against the Kansas City Chiefs.

In that game he punted twice for a 60.5-yard average, including a long of 63 yards.

Pittsburgh waived him at the end of that season, however, and he was claimed by Denver.

In 2022, Waitman appeared in all 17 games for the Broncos and averaged 46.6 yards per punt.

He has appeared in 19 career games with the Broncos and Steelers and has posted a career average of 46.9 yards per punt.

The Steelers visit the Broncos on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. on WKBN-27.
