Trumbull County Fairgrounds hosting spooky event, promising something for everyone

BAZETTA, Ohio (WKBN) – The Trumbull County Fairgrounds is getting into the spooky spirit ahead of its first weekend-long Halloween celebration later this month.

Barrels are painted like Jack-o-Lanterns, and there is a spooky background setting for story time — it’s just a few of the things already set up ahead of the first Halloween Family Fun Weekend at the fairgrounds.

“At this point, we don’t have any idea how many people. We are hoping that we get quite a lot of people out here. There is stuff for everybody to do,” said Kierstin Holmes, of the Trumbull County Fair Board.

The event runs from September 20-22. It includes bounce houses, trick-or-treating and pumpkins for the kids, as well as spooky activities like a haunted house and toxic dunk tank. There will also be live entertainment and bonfires at the new fire pit, plus camping.

“People can camp all weekend. You can do Friday or Saturday night, or do both nights. If you do both nights, the admission for camping also includes tickets to the demo derby [Sept. 21],” Holmes said.

For those who aren’t camping, the cost to get into the fairgrounds is simply a non-perishable food item per person. Those food items will be donated to the Warren Family Mission.

“We have been trying to make the fairgrounds a place that everybody can come and enjoy… we have gotten a ton of support from the community this year, and we just wanted to give back. We want to say thank you to everybody and invite them out to have a good time for the end of the year,” Holmes said.

Organizers are planning to make this an annual event.

The fairgrounds are located at 899 Everett Hull Rd.
