YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A man who served a two-year prison sentence for beating a man at a city bar was arrested over the weekend on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

Charles Bulatko, 31, was arraigned on the charge Monday in municipal court. He is set for a pretrial hearing on Oct. 17. Court records did not mention bail.

Bulatko was arrested about 10:40 p.m. Sunday at a home on Haseltine Avenue after police were called for a report of a juvenile being assaulted by his family member, who reports said was Bulatko, at a home in the 600 block of Benwood Avenue.

Witnesses told police Bulatko became upset when the juvenile dropped a plate and threw him to the ground and punched him several times. The juvenile managed to break free, reports said, and walked to Haseltine Avenue, where police were called.

Bulatko was arrested at the Benwood Avenue home, reports said.

In December 2020, Bulatko was charged with felonious assault for the beating of a man at a West Side bar. Reports said the victim lost several teeth, had a broken jaw and had to be intubated.

Bulatko pleaded guilty on June 23, 2021, to an amended charge of attempted felonious assault in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court and was sentenced to two years in prison. That sentence ran consecutively to a probation violation in a 2013 case, court records show.

    Bulatko is presently on parole.
