CLEVELAND (WJW) — You probably already noticed, but the midges are back in Northeast Ohio.

Hatching out of Lake Erie in late spring and also late summer/early fall, the little mosquito-looking bugs can be quite annoying but thankfully don’t bite people.

Meanwhile, one FOX 8 viewer sent in photos of clouds of midges Tuesday over NEORSD Easterly Wastewater Plant on the shore of Lake Erie in Bratenahl, as seen below:

A midge’s lifespan is between five and seven days long. Residents near Lake Erie could be seeing them through late October, as long as water temperatures and air temperatures alike stay above winter-esque temps.
