(WKBN) — The creators of a graphic novel depicting aspects of the Jan. 6 , 2021, capitol riots say they are working to place their comic book in the hands of high school students across Pennsylvania.

According to a media release, a campaign was launched Tuesday for the comic book “1/6: The Graphic Novel.” Over 100 high schools and every library in the Pittsburgh area, including those in Allegheny, Beaver, Westmoreland, Washington, Butler, Beaver and Armstrong counties will be sent copies starting this week, the release states.

Written by Harvard Law School professor Alan Jenkins and best-selling author Gan Golan and illustrated by Will Rosado, “1/6: The Graphic Novel” asks and answers the question: What if the January 6, 2021 Insurrection had been successful?

Onesix Comics compares the work to the speculative fiction from George Orwell’s “1984” and Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” exploring themes of autocracy, scapegoating, strategic disinformation and more.

Onesix Comics says it selected Pennsylvania as the distribution state “because it is synonymous with the birth of our democracy” and cites it as one of the top 3 states with the most book bans .
