    Guardians pitcher to miss 12-14 months after surgery

    CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The Cleveland Guardians announced on Tuesday that relief pitcher Sam Hentges will undergo left shoulder surgery and miss the next 12-14 months.

    Hentges underwent an assessment by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, in Los Angeles, CA on Thu., Sept. 5.

    The examination confirmed that Hentges has an injury involving his capsule and labrum in his left shoulder.

    Hentges will undergo surgery on Sept. 18 in Los Angeles.

    This season, Hentges appeared in 25 games for Cleveland, posting a 3.04 ERA. He struck out 27 batters in 23.2 innings of work.
