YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Anna Fitzgerald and Angie Davenport are back this week to talk about some upcoming events supporting the ostomy community.

The two went in-depth about their ostomy experiences in April explaining that ostomy is surgically created by opening a piece of bowel in the abdomen whereafter a person must wear a pouch to collect stool.

Fitzgerald is an ostomy nurse who facilitates a local ostomy support group.

“Anna is awesome with leading the ostomy support group in Youngstown. She reaches out, she provides health fairs and information and she’s definitely on call If someone has an emergency,” said Davenport.

Davenport is the CEO of her own company, Blessed with a Bag.

“Friday, October 4 at Lucille’s, I’m having a meet and greet,” Davenport said. “We’re going to have games and there will be light refreshments. Just a time to kind of get together and meet some of the ones that are coming in.”

She says the meet and greet event is only $1 for ostomates and $25 for their guests.

Davenport and Fitzgerald will continue explaining their upcoming events Wednesday.
