CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) Reports said a woman wanted on warrants for six counts picked up an additional six counts of child endangering Wednesday when she ran out her back door when police came to arrest her, leaving her children in the home.

Whitney Daye, 30, is expected to be arraigned Friday in municipal court on all 12 counts — which are first-degree misdemeanors. One of these counts is obstructing official business, according to court records.

Reports said police went to a home about 3 p.m. in the first block of Chambers Street to take Daye into custody on the warrants.

When police knocked on the door and told Daye they were there to arrest her, reports said she would come out after she called a friend to make arrangements to come and take her children, and then she ran out the back door.

Reports said the children wandered towards an open door and police could see the children were covered in bug bites and sores. Their clothing was tattered and some of them had full diapers, reports said.

Reports said the house also had an “overwhelming” odor and there was trash throughout.

A friend called Daye and got her to come back to the home, where she was taken into custody and booked into the Mahoning County Jail.

The children were removed from the home by the Mahoning County Children’s Services Board.

Daye will appear in court on Friday morning.
