AKRON , Ohio (WJW) — A judge on Thursday issued an arrest warrant for a Summit County man accused of killing his dog during a Facebook live stream earlier this year, for apparently skipping a Thursday hearing on revoking his bond.

Marc W. Wolfe Jr., 32, of Akron, was indicted in June on two counts of cruelty to companion animals, one felony and one misdemeanor, court records show. The incident happened sometime between late April and early May, according to his indictment.

Wolfe was initially released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond and was prohibited from keeping animals. His other dog was seized, and he was ordered to surrender all his firearms. But in a motion filed last week, county prosecutors allege Wolfe violated terms of that bond.

Wolfe was reportedly caught on camera on multiple occasions coming into the Humane Society of Summit County shelter — which is keeping his other dog — with a gun strapped to his leg, despite firearm prohibitions there and the court’s order to surrender his guns.

“Mr. Wolfe continues this behavior despite officers telling him this is harassing and unpermitted,” the motion reads.

Judge Susan Baker Ross oversaw Wolfe’s bond revocation hearing on Thursday afternoon.

“I gave him a hearing as a courtesy. He’s not here, so I’m going to issue a warrant for his arrest,” she said. “He’s clearly in violation from what I can see and the fact that he’s not here today. He’s going to have to turn himself in.”

Wolfe is due for trial on Oct. 7. Judge Ross said that date will be upheld so long as Wolfe turns himself in by Monday, Sept. 16.

Wolfe’s attorney Troy Reeves of Kent, said he had been in contact with his client and that he was aware of the Thursday hearing date, but he did not know where he was.

“It’s frustrating,” said Nick Browning, CEO of the Human Society of Summit County, following the hearing.

“We’re concerned Mr. Wolfe is not here at court today, so we still have a concern of him being outside of custody,” Browning said.
