CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) — A woman charged with 10 counts of child endangering has been released on her own recognizance.

Whitney Daye, 30, was arraigned in municipal court before Judge Mark Kolomacic on the counts — all first-degree misdemeanors — after she was arrested Wednesday in a home in the single-digit block of Chambers Street.

She also has an additional charge of obstructing official business, also a first-degree misdemeanor.

She will have a pretrial hearing Dec. 6.

Daye was wanted on warrants for five counts of child endangering when police went to the home about 3 p.m. Wednesday to take her into custody.

As a condition of her bond, Judge Kolomacic ordered that Daye have no unsupervised visits with her children.

Reports said she told police she would come out after she called a friend to take her children. She then ran out a back door with five inside, reports said.

She returned after her friend called her and told her to come back, reports said.

The children in the home were covered in sores and bug bites and the house was in deplorable conditions, reports said. The Mahoning County Childrens Services Board took custody of the children.

Daye was booked into the Mahoning County jail, then later released on summons.

In a barely audible voice, Daye says she has not worked for a couple of years because she has had problems getting identification. She did not say what those problems were.

She said CSB has placed the children with their father.

In an answer to a question by Judge Kolomacic, Daye said the children’s father does not pay child support.

In tears, Daye said she did not run from her property when the police came to her home and she was on the phone with her friend. In tears, she said she suffers from post traumatic stress disorder.
