AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — People were dressed to the nines in Austintown on Saturday in support of shelter dogs.

Every Dog Matters held its second Mutt Gala fundraiser at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish to raise money for vet expenses and getting dogs into better homes. The theme was black and white.

Organizers want to build a bigger building for their shelter dogs since they’re normally at full capacity.

“We started in 2016 because there was a need for someone to care for the unwanted dogs, the ones that needed a little more training or guidance,” said event coordinator Amanda Hamilton.

Next year’s gala will be ’80s themed.
