WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Warren convenience store that was called a ‘nuisance’ earlier in the summer by city council was the cause of a police call early Thursday morning.

Officers with the Warren Police Department reported hearing several gunshots in the area of East Market at Chestnut just before 2 a.m. when a caller reported hearing shots in the area of the Convenient Mart on Elm Road NE.

When police got to the store, they observed the front window had been hit. Reports state the clerk working at the time reported finding “a projectile” laying on the floor after it entered through the glass window and struck a lottery machine.

The clerk told police an occupied vehicle in the lot at the time of the gunfire was also struck, but that the vehicle and its occupants left the scene and did not file a report on the matter, according to the department.

    No injuries were reported.

In July, Warren City Council voted unanimously in objection a liquor license renewal for the store, stating it had nuisance issues they wanted corrected.

At the time of the vote, Second Ward Councilman Andrew Herman said neighbors complained of constant activity in the parking lot and shots being fired constantly, including two people shot at the store on July 9.

so many gas stations in warren you literally see drug deals go down just driving past and police do nothing. but when someone gets shot or store gets robbed then they want to act like there's been a problem. assess the situation before it gets to the point of a shooting or assault or robbery

The store owner isn't the one selling the drugs in his parking lot. So if the Warren PD would get off there ass's and start arresting these individuals selling the drugs. The store wouldn't be a issue. Closing the store isn't going to change a thing, The drug dealers need arrested. Ive been in that store, They're just trying to make a living like everyone elese is.
