TURTLECREEK TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — An inmate at a Warren County prison has been sentenced for murdering his cellmate.

According to Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell, Jedidiah Hayes Lang, 43, of
Youngstown, pleaded guilty to the 2023 murder of cellmate Cody Bartimus.

Lang was sentenced to 15 years to life.

Fornshell reports Bartimus was found “unresponsive” by prison staff on Oct. 26, 2023. Bartimus was taken to Atrium Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. It was determined the man’s cause of death was strangulation, according to Fornshell.

The release provided to 2 NEWS by Fornshell details how Lang claims he conducted the incident. Due to the graphic nature of the details, WDTN.com has decided to exclude the specific information related to the death.

Lang was serving time at WCI for a 2013 Knox County murder case. His new sentence for the 2023 death will run consecutively with the other sentence.
