WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Masury man received his sentence last week in a child endangering case.

Jerami Wells, 33, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree felony child-endangering charge last month.

Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas Judge Ronald Rice sentenced Wells to three years of probation last Thursday, according to court records.

Wells was charged in March after police were called to an apartment complex on Addison Road, where a caller said a young child was running through the parking lot without any shoes, socks or a coat. The temperature at the time was 35 degrees.

When officers tried to make contact at the apartment where the children lived, the door was open but no one answered when officers knocked multiple times.

Police said Wells, the father of the children returned and said he left the children, ages 2 and 5, alone while he walked to the store.

The charge was elevated from a misdemeanor to a felony because Wells had a previous conviction for child endangerment, the report stated.

Patty Coller contributed to this report.
