OHIO (WJW) — The adult beverage market has expanded just a bit more with the introduction of New Brew.

However, not all states or counties are allowing the sale of the 21+ drink, which touts itself as a euphoric seltzer. While you can purchase the cans in certain parts of Northeast Ohio , those in Indiana can’t buy it all.

What makes the drink so unusual? It doesn’t contain any alcohol, but instead is made from two plants: kava root and kratom leaf.

According to the drink’s website , the beverage affects everyone’s brain differently but reportedly causes “non-inebriating bliss, with a symphony of effects that include a positive attitude shift and a balanced feeling of calm, clarity and connection.”

The company says the beverage is to be used responsibly and can be habit-forming.

Kratom is reportedly banned in Indiana, with Indiana State Police offering the following statement to FOX 8’s sister station WTWO :

The most important thing is, as a consumer, you need to know and understand anything that you put in your body. New Brew is available in the Canton and Youngstown areas, according to the company website map. Find out much more about the product and its effects right here.
