27 local teams in playoff mix in first computer rankings

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – The Ohio High School Athletic Association released the first official weekly football computer ratings on Wednesday.

The computer ratings are released every week beginning in the fifth week of the season, leading up to the final report on Sunday, Oct. 27, when 448 schools – the top 16 in each region – will qualify for the playoffs.

If the playoffs began today, a total of 27 local teams would qualify. They include Austintown Fitch, Boardman, Warren Harding, Ursuline, Canfield, East, West Branch, Hubbard, Struthers, Niles, South Range, Poland, Lakeview, Crestview, Girard, LaBrae, United, Valley Christian, Springfield, Mineral Ridge, Jackson-Milton, Western Reserve, Warren JFK, East Palestine, Lowellville, McDonald and Lisbon.
