YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A New York homicide suspect was arrested in Youngstown Wednesday afternoon.

Members of the US Marshals, the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), New York Police Department Detectives, U.S. Secret Service, and the Youngstown Police Department worked together to arrest Jose Feliciano, 49, according to a release from the US Marshals Service.

They arrested Feliciano in the 1900 block of Wolosyn Circle without any problems, the release stated.

Feliciano was wanted by the New York Police Department since an incident at a Brooklyn, New York bar on Feb. 10 in which a bouncer was stabbed in the neck.

According to the release, the victim, Laurence Hopkins, 61, was stabbed while trying to help his female coworker involved in an altercation with patrons of the bar.

Law enforcement said they believed Feliciano fled the state shortly after the murder. A warrant for his arrest was issued in June.

Members of the regional fugitive task force began searching for Feliciano immediately.

“Criminals will not find a place to hide in northern Ohio. Members of our task force will work with law enforcement across the country to ensure that those wanted for violent crimes are caught and held accountable for their actions,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.

Feliciano will remain in custody in Ohio until he’s extradited back to New York.
