YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Champion and Cardinal Mooney battled to a 2-2 draw in high school girls’ soccer action at Farmers National Bank Soccer Field on the campus of YSU.

The first goal of the night came off the foot of Maylee Nadaud from outside the box for the Flashes, adding her 14th goal of the season in the first half to take the 1-0 advantage.

But the Cardinals continued to apply pressure in the second half and finally broke through with a game-tying goal from Mia Williams to pull it even at 1-1 each.

Then in the final minutes, both teams would tack on another goal, scored by Mooney’s Ashley Levak and Champion’s Ella Pompoco.

With the result, Mooney sits at 4-3-2 and will head to Howland on Monday, Sept. 23.

The Flashes, who had won 8 straight games entering the night, now move to 8-2-2 overall and will next travel to Brookfield on Monday.
