Woman tries to buy car with stolen driver’s license: Report

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — A woman was arrested on a warrant issued in 2022 after reports from the time state she used a stolen driver’s license in an attempt to purchase a vehicle.

Jessica Marker, 35, was arrested by authorities in Stark County and turned over to the Boardman Police Department on account of an active warrant for her arrest. Marker is facing felony charges of identity fraud and theft by deception.

A report filed May 28, 2022 stated a female victim reported her wallet, including her driver’s license, stolen from her vehicle the previous year in Cuyahoga Falls. Since then, her identity has been used by a woman on traffic offenses and numerous bank accounts were opened in her name throughout Ohio, reports state.

The victim of the fraud told police she received a message from an employee of a Boardman car dealership on May 27, 2022, stating a man and woman entered the business and attempted to purchase a vehicle using her driver’s license.

Employees suspected the woman was lying about her identity and when confronted, the suspects fled the scene, reports state. Detectives were provided security footage of the incident.

Now, just over two years later, Marker was arrested in connection to the incident.

Marker is set to appear before Judge Joseph Houser for arraignment on the charges Thursday evening.
