BEREA, Ohio (WKBN) — The Cleveland Browns waived rookie linebacker Nathaniel Watson on Thursday.

Watson was selected by Cleveland in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Mississippi State.

He appeared in the first two games of the season as a reserve.

Watson was a finalist for the Butkus Award for the nation’s top linebacker last season.

He was named Third-team AP All-American and First-team All South Eastern Conference.

The sixth-round pick led the SEC with 137 tackles and started all 12 games for the Bulldogs.

The team also waived safety Chase Williams from injured reserve. He signed with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent back in May.
