Coroner releases identity of man who died after being run over in motel parking lot

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — On Friday, the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office released the name of the man who died Sunday from injuries he sustained after being hit by a truck in the parking lot of a Coitsville motel .

The man is identified as Shawn Pounds, 34.

Police said Pounds died at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown after he was hit about 9:30 p.m. by a pickup truck in the parking lot of the King’s Motel on U.S. 422.

Police said a woman who claimed to have been held against her will by Pounds was driving the truck that hit him.

Police impounded the truck for evidence.

No charges have been filed.

The incident remains under investigation.
