    Police offer $5K reward for information on ’93 cold case

    NEW CASTLE, Pa. (WKBN) –The New Castle Barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police is offering a $5,000 reward for information on the unsolved 1993 death of a woman who never returned from a shopping trip.

    Investigators are seeking information on the death of Julie Rae Conway. She was 35 years old when she disappeared Aug. 28, 1993, after she went shopping at the Lawrence Village Plaza in New Castle.

    A news release said Conway bought something at a hardware store, and that is the last trace investigators have of her until her body was found Sept. 6, 1993, in a limestone quarry in Shenango Township. Conway’s Pontiac was still parked at the plaza when she went missing, the release said.

    Her death was ruled a homicide because of a fatal gunshot wound.

    From November 29, 1993: NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- State police in Lawrence County are searching for a man in a red pickup truck for questioning in the August kidnapping and slaying of a Shenango woman.The body of 35-year-old Julie Rae Conway was found in a limestone quarry Sept. 6, about one week after she was last seen while shopping in the Lawrence Village Plaza on Route 65.

    Julie was a friend of mine . I think about her , and this all the time. She and her family really deserve justice . Justice for Julie !
