PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially parted ways with two veteran players, outfielder Michael A. Taylor and first-baseman Rowdy Tellez.

Both players were designated for assignment on Tuesday afternoon.

Taylor signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh just prior to the start of the regular season. He has appeared in 113 games for the Pirates, posting a batting average of .193 with five home runs, 21 RBIs, with 12 stolen bases.

Tellez inked a one-year deal with the Pirates last Winter. This season he is batting .243 with 13 homers and 56 RBIs.

I'm sorry to hear about Rowdy. I thought he was a good fit for the Pirates.I hope the way the pirates cut him loose, does not discourage another player from joining the team next season.
