    Steelers sign former first round pick to practice squad

    PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially signed cornerback C.J. Henderson to the practice squad.

    Henderson was originally selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft at No. 9 overall out of the University of Florida.

    Henderson was traded to the Carolina Panthers early in the 2021 season, before signing with the Houston Texans in 2024. He was released by the Texans prior to the season.

    Henderson appeared in 12 games for the Jaguars last season, finishing the season with 39 tackles and three tackles for a loss. He has appeared in 49 career games in the NFL, piled up 172 tackles, 16 passes defensed, six tackles for a loss, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, one sack, and one fumble recovery.
