WEATHERSFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – A semi-truck accident in Weathersfield caused a traffic delay on Interstate 80 in Trumbull County.

The crash happened just before 11 a.m. Thursday on I-80 East just beyond Salt Springs Road.

Weathersfield Fire Chief Tom Lambert says the drive shaft came off the truck, piercing the fuel tank.

About 35-40 gallons of fuel leaked before crews were able to get it contained. Crews then started cleaning it up.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was notified of the leak.

Traffic was impacted for at least an hour.
