Woman arrested after tip of man’s finger cut off in fight over drug money: Report

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Reports said a woman was booked into the Mahoning County Jail Wednesday after a man told police she sliced the tip of his finger off when he refused to give her money to buy drugs.

Ashley Young, 31, is charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony; and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. She is expected to be arraigned Friday in municipal court.

Young was arrested after police were called about 4:25 p.m. to a home on Lora Avenue for a report of a fight. When officers arrived, a man told them that Young came to his home asking for money to buy drugs, and when he told her no, she became irate and began smashing things and hitting him.

The man told police he walked into the kitchen but she followed, throwing things at him and hitting him with a broom. When the broom broke, she grabbed a knife and cut the tip of his finger off, he said.

Reports said an ambulance was called and the tip of the finger was hanging off the man’s hand.

Young was taken into custody at the home and refused to speak to police. She was denied entry to the jail because she complained of chest pains so she was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where reports said she had to be put in a separate room because she was yelling and swearing at hospital workers. She was taken to the jail after she was examined.
