GREENVILLE, Pa. (WKBN) — A two-year-long construction project in Mercer County is set to start on Monday.

Drivers should be alert for lane restrictions on Route 18 in Greenville as work starts on the Route 18-Route 58 Improvement Project . The purpose of the project is to improve pedestrian accessibility and safety as well as intersection efficiency throughout the corridor.

Work from the intersection with Route 358 (Main Street) to the intersection with Packard Avenue and Route 58 will require temporary lane restrictions from approximately 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday, Sept. 30 to Friday, Oct. 4 weather permitting.

Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and slowed down.

Utility work will also be completed before the project shuts down for the winter months.

The project is expected to be completed by late Oct. 2025, and access to drives and businesses will be maintained throughout the project.

My goodness. Just grinding the surface and renewing it with a nice coat of new asphalt will suffice. Shouldn’t take long and if done correctly should last for quite a few years. I cannot figure out why such a smaller project has to be blown all out of proportion!? I travel through the area often and never noticed a problem. Students seem to have no issue moving about.
