CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – It was an exciting day for everyone at Canfield’s Bob Dove Field on Thursday as students hosted the Day of Champions.

Other students with special abilities from around the region were there.

There were a wide variety of activities to enjoy, including running through the tunnel and onto the field.

People were invited to sit in the stands to cheer everyone on.

The event is designed to bring people together.

“It’s not only to give our students with special abilities an opportunity to experience something new, but also the typical peers that are here from the high school,” said Canfield Superintendent Joe Knoll.

“It’s an opportunity for our students to participate in different school activities that they wouldn’t maybe not have an opportunity to participate in, and it gives them a chance to be like every other high school student,” said Gina Simsek, principal at Leonard Kirtz School.

Over 150 students and teachers took part in the event.
