Ivy League bound standout named Student Athlete of the Week

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Warren Harding senior Airiz Coleman Bey holds himself to a high standard.

“I just want to make a big impact for Warren G. Harding,” Coleman Bey said. “I want to break records and be the best player that ever came out of Warren G. Harding.”

The Raiders senior is striving for that on and off the field, matching his stellar play on the field with an impressive 4.7 grade point average in the classroom.

“I’ve never really had a C or D, it’s always been As and Bs my whole life. My dad really enforced that a lot in my life,” Coleman Bey said.

So far, it’s led the two-sport standout to verbally commit to Brown University in the Ivy League ahead of his senior campaigns.

“It’s pretty cool. I’m very appreciative of the opportunities that I’ve received, and I’m blessed and I’m thankful,” Coleman Bey said.

The defensive back standout also balances baseball in the spring after football in the fall but always keeps his school work at the top of his priorities.

“Football, it might not always work out and I have school to help out with that,” Coleman Bey said. “Most people, they put all their eggs in one basket and I’m not that type of person. I want to succeed — succeed in football and outside of sports.”

Of course, with this kind of resume, Coleman Bey has an idea of what he wants in the future, with the goal of becoming a pediatrician.
