WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown man was sentenced in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Thursday on drug charges.

According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor’s Office, Chantelle A. Scott Jr., 27, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of fentanyl-related compounds, third and fourth-degree felonies; two counts of possession of fentanyl-related compounds, fifth-degree felonies; and one count of having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony.

Scot was sentenced to six years in prison and fined $5,000. Judge Ronald J. Rice said that because of Scott’s extensive criminal history, consecutive sentences were necessary to protect the public.

The case involved an October 2022 investigation by the Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force when a large amount of fentanyl was found in Scott’s Liberty Township residence, according to prosecutors. Cash and weapons were also confiscated.

Scott was also facing felony charges in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. He was indicted May 2 on charges of failure to comply, receiving stolen property, obstructing official business and aggravated possession. Those charges were filed in connection to an April arrest in Youngstown when Scott and another man were taken into custody in connection to a December 2023 chase in Youngstown.

The case in Mahoning County is listed as closed, but the online docket does not say how it was adjudicated.
