Boardman senior reaches career milestone in victory

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Boardman topped Warren Harding in straight sets (25-15, 25-15, 25-7) in high school volleyball action at Boardman High School on Thursday night.

Senior standout Ava Commons reached a major career milestone for the Spartans, tallying her 1,000th career assist in the victory.

She finished with 20 assists on the night and likewise added 3 kills, 2 aces, and 4 digs.

The Boardman offense was led by Maya Flores who piled up 12 kills, 2 aces, and 4 digs.

Ava Gaps had 7 kills and 1 block, Lily Ison had 2 kills and 1 block.

On defense, Sadie Satterfield added 6 digs, 4 assists, and 3 aces.

With the win, Boardman improves to 9-8 overall on the season.

The Spartans return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 1 on the road for the Volley for the Cure game at Austintown Fitch at 7 p.m.
