CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Hilltop Elementary School in Canfield celebrated 50 years.

Built in 1970s, the main school building hasn’t changed much over the years, but additions have been added, including a nature center and playground for students with special needs.

On Friday, past and present staff took part in the celebration.

Lisa Zetts has been teacher at Hilltop for 38 years. She enjoys that it is a neighborhood school.

“Those neighborhoods form communities at Hilltop and C.H. Campbell, so we’re very happy to have a community school here, a neighborhood school, and that’s a good feeling,” Zetts said.

Hilltop Elementary includes grades kindergarten through fourth grade.

really?... Weren't they just proposing to build a new School Complex just outside of town? Right down the road on the line of Western Reserve School District, out by that Millennium Condo sight on Leffingwell & Palmyra. However it got voted Down. Not sure they still haven't given up on that idea yet, either. So it's nice to hear all that "happy we're a neighborhood school" stuff 🤣
