YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Bond was set on Friday at $15,000 for a woman accused of almost slicing a man’s finger off Wednesday .

Ashley Young, 31, was arraigned in municipal court before Magistrate Meghan Brundege on charges of felonious assault, a second-degree felony and domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony.

Young is expected to have a preliminary hearing on Oct. 4.

Young was arrested after police were called about 4:25 p.m. to a home on Lora Avenue for a report of a fight. When officers arrived, a man told them that Young came to his home asking for money to buy drugs, and when he told her no, she became irate and began smashing things and hitting him.

The man told police he walked into the kitchen but she followed, throwing things at him and hitting him with a broom. When the broom broke, she grabbed a knife and cut the tip of his finger off, he said.

Reports said an ambulance was called and the tip of the finger was hanging off the man’s hand.

Young was taken into custody at the home and refused to speak to police. She was denied entry to the jail because she complained of chest pains so she was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where reports said she had to be put in a separate room because she was yelling and swearing at hospital workers. She was taken to the jail after she was examined.
