    Hot start propels Springfield over Jackson Milton

    NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (WKBN) -Visiting Springfield Friday jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they downed Jackson Milton 40-9.

    Dante Gentile opened the scoring at the 7:08 mark of the first quarter on a touchdown run. The Tigers (4-2) missed the extra point but led 6-0.

    Gentile also recovered a Blue Jay (2-4) fumble in the first quarter and scored his second touchdown of the night with 1:43 left in the first half. The two-point conversion was no good but the Tigers led 12-0.

    Gentile scored his third touchdown on a 90-yard run to start the second quarter. The extra point gave Springfield a 19-0 lead.

    The Tigers increased their lead to 25-0 on a 32-yard by Kaden Kosek with 5:03 left in the first half. The extra point was blocked.

    The Blue Jays got on the board with a 35-yard field goal with six seconds left in the half, cutting the score to 25-3.

    Gentile struck again at the 11:09 mark of the third quarter on a 51-yard run. The two-point conversion gave the Tigers a 33-3 lead.

    Wyatt Kuboff added a late score for Springfield and the Blue Jays also added a late touchdown.

    Springfield will visit Western Reserve in Week 7. Jackson-Milton will visit Waterloo.
